Position Overview
The Manager of Compensation will be accountable for the implementation of both new and revised compensation programs, policies, and procedures, in order to be responsive to the company's goals of implementing competitive and cost effective compensation practices. Assures thorough audits, reports and reviews are conducted so that company compensation programs are consistently administered in compliance with company policies and government regulations. This position will also manage international assignment activity for transfers into and out of North America, including all assignment related issues. As well as manage the domestic relocation processes and vendors. The incumbent will serve as an active team member in the Human Resources Service Center (HRSC), participating in strategic HRSC planning, priority setting, resource utilization, process improvement activities and overall project management.

Duties:

Core Responsibilities:
• Manage the wage & salary administration processes, to include job design and evaluation, and salary action review and processing
• Communicate and administer the annual merit pay planning process
• Oversee development and administration of all variable pay plans to ensure compliance with global guidelines and state and federal requirements
• Supervise the participation in and conducting of both exempt and nonexempt salary surveys to ensure corporate compensation objectives are achieved
• Direct and provide a uniform method for determining the relative value of bargaining and non-bargaining positions.
• Support and consult with Corporate HR in the development and implementation of compensation strategy, and policy and program development
• Identify and implement process improvements in cooperation with VBS global process owner
• Responsible for the resolution of complex cases
• Responsible for escalation of suggestions for policy/program changes to Corporate HR
• When requested, support the analysis of organizational structures and proposed organizational changes to meet business needs as well as facilitate the development and implementation of organizational design changes to enhance operational effectiveness. Includes consultation and assistance to Human Resources Business Partners with organizational design and job design responsibilities.
• Maintain expertise in compensation, international assignments, and domestic relocation processes; keep informed of developments and trends and incorporates appropriate changes to programs.
• Ensure that compensation practices are in compliance with all state and federal requirements, (i.e. FLSA, EPA, Workers Comp, EEOC, etc.)
• Administer and execute all international assignments for US operations
• Provide direction and guidance to North America AB Volvo business units/areas regarding international assignment policies and practices, including advising Human Resources and Line Management on all international assignment issues; from category selection to repatriation
• Oversee the domestic relocation process
• Manages relationships and contracts with outside service providers. Supports and selects operational vendors.
• Develop and maintain a base of knowledge regarding trends and best practices in areas of responsibility for application as appropriate to enhance organizational effectiveness
• Develop, motivate, and coach the compensation, international assignment and domestic relocation team
• Utilize operational Key Performance Indicators (KPI) and other measurements to drive continuous improvements in compensation, international assignment, and domestic relocation processes

Qualifications:

Required Competencies:
• Ability to effectively lead a wide variety of HR professionals, regardless of their experience level and specific HR expertise, in achievement of established goals and objectives
• Mathematical aptitude, analysis skills and ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
• Ability to visualize process performance
• Evidence of the practice of a high level of confidentiality
• Strong business and customer focus
• Overall understanding of processes, continuous improvement work and an ability and interest in identifying and championing new ideas for possible adoption in Volvo group
• Working and managing teams in a highly matrix organization
• Ability to build relationships, teamwork and network in a virtual international context
• Basic business and accounting principles
• MS Office proficiency and good understanding of the role of IT in supporting HR processes

Minimum Education Required:
Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or Business, or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge skills and abilities.

Minimum Years of Experience Required:
• 7 or more years of Compensation and Salary Administration experience
• 2 years of supervisory experience preferred
• Previous experience managing International Assignments is preferred
• CCP (Certified Compensation Professional) designation is highly desirable
